How to use this organizer

Use this middle school organizer before students compare values, identify patterns, or write claims. It guides them to notice chart structure, labels, scale, categories, and visible evidence before interpreting.

Best fit

This version is useful when students can read individual values but miss the structure that gives those values meaning. It pairs naturally with Data Ascent and Data Math lessons.

Teacher move

Ask students to mark which chart element most affected their interpretation. Then discuss how that element shaped what the chart could responsibly show.
