About Chart-Ed

Chart-Ed® is a K-12 instructional product from Living Spiral Studio LLC. Chart-Ed creates standards-governed classroom resources, chart-reading product packs, instructional guidance, and chart creation tools so teachers can help students build evidence-based academic judgment through charts.

Chart-Ed is the instructional product engine for a larger data literacy movement. Its resources are aligned to the Global Data Literacy Standards and designed to help teachers turn chart reasoning into usable classroom practice.

Chart-Ed is related to the broader WhyDive epistemic learning system, but Chart-Ed's current public product is focused on classroom-ready instructional resources, responsible chart sourcing, product downloads, chart tools, and teacher support.

Our Mission

We transform complex data into clear educational materials that build chart reasoning, evidence use, and academic judgment. Every chart we use is selected with care, prioritizing sources that are licensed for classroom and commercial reuse, with each source's modification rules respected.

What We Do

  • Instructional Products: Create classroom-ready product packs based on real-world data
  • Responsible Sourcing: Work with trusted organizations and open-data publishers
  • Standards-Governed Design: Align resources to the Global Data Literacy Standards and DLL progression
  • Teacher Guidance: Translate chart reasoning and evidence principles into usable classroom moves
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure products meet sourcing, attribution, educational, and licensing requirements

How We Develop Articles

Chart-Ed does not publish substantive articles directly from idea to post. Each article moves through a staged editorial process that reviews topic strategy, evidence, article structure, classroom usefulness, source accuracy, visual clarity, search and internal linking, and final editorial quality.

The goal is not simply to publish more content. The goal is to publish work that is accurate, useful, honest about complexity, and aligned with Chart-Ed's mission to strengthen evidence-based academic judgment through charts.

Our Approach

We prioritize charts that:

  • Are licensed for classroom and commercial reuse
  • Come from trusted organizations (government agencies, NGOs, open-data publishers)
  • Can be used commercially and educationally with proper attribution and source-specific restrictions
